History

Brahmasri. Pandit Sri Chandramouli Sastrigal, Founder President and Secretary of the Aathiparasakthi Temple, Scarborough, Ontario, Canada had repeated visions of the mother with sixteen hands as described in the Druga Sapthashathi and was directed by the Mother to erect a temple for her.

Sri Chandramouli Sastrigal, is a direct shishya (disciple) of Maha Periyava, H.H. Jagadguru Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham. With the blessings of the Acharyas of the Peetham, and in consultation with them, Sri Chandramouli Sastrigal established the temple and installed Mother Aathi Parasakthi along with other deities according to the Agama Sastras and traditions. With the help of friends and devotees, the Kumbabhishekem of the temple was carried out in 2002. Since then, regular Pujas are conducted daily as per he traditions of Sanatana Dharma.

In 2012, the Aathi Parasakthi temple celebrated its Kumbhanhishekam. Presently, the team temple is redecorated with granite stone and floor heating. Built according to the Agama Shastras, this Parashakthi temple, in keeping with the motherly nature of its principal deity, is the Nitya Annadanam or daily offering of consecrated food (Mahapradsad) given to all devotees who come to the temple, completely free of any charge whatsoever, Lovingly and hygienically prepared by the chief priest Sri Chandramouli Sastrigal himself, the ritually consecrated food is delicious, south Indian vegetarian food. It is purely Sattvic food i.e. freshly prepared daily and devoid of ritually proscribed substances such as onions, garlic, eggs etc.

The present pontiffs of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, H.H. Pujya Sri. C Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamigal have been continuously showering blessings for Devi's grace on Sri Chandramouli Sastrigal and the devotees of the temple.

Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba also sent his divine blessings and the permission for the construction of the Temple. He also sent his picture prior to the inauguration of the temple. Since then, all the devotees who visit this sacred temple have received the Mother's continued grace, love and protection.

H.H. Pujya Sri Mathioli Saraswathi amma, hailed by Maha Periyava himself as an incarnation of Sri Akhilandeshwari, has also graced the temple by her divine presence when she visited the temple in 2013.

The temple attracts a diverse cross section of Canadian residents and visitors from the South Asian diaspora such as India, Sri Lanka as well as the West Indies and Guyana. The temple joyfully celebrates a variety of Indian festivals as well as observances in a grand manner following all the ritual injunctions. The schedule of activities is available in the free Temple Calendar distributed every year.

Let us offer our prayers and worship to the Divine Mother Sri Aathi Parasakthi for her continued protection. May we always receive her grace and love.
